Career Focus
Gabbitas specialises in personal careers guidance and career advice for sixth-formers, university students and graduates as well as those already embarked on a career who are looking for a change.
Sometimes students feel that they need a change of direction, often while they are at university and look for career advice. In many cases, however, our clients feel that they have no clear plans and are looking for a more individual, more imaginative approach than they have been able to find elsewhere.
Knowing your own strengths and aptitudes is a critical part of career planning and career advice, but self-assessment is not always easy. We offer an independent perspective to help students focus on suitable career areas and, as appropriate, relevant training or degree courses.
- Define your strengths, interests and aptitudes
- Review all the options
- Consider new ideas
- Rethink career ideas at university or beyond
- Choose the appropriate sixth-form course, degree course or training options
- Find the best postgraduate study options
- Get relevant work experience
- Get started on your career as a graduate
We start by conducting a short assessment, the results of which are used as the basis for a more detailed discussion. We look at academic achievements, aims, interests, skills and aptitudes and consider how these might be used in a variety of different career areas. We offer guidance on how to research ideas in more depth and how to use work experience opportunities to test genuine levels of interest and enjoyment.
Some clients find that their questions can be answered in one session of career advice; others use us over a period of months to cover all stages of their career planning and job applications.
