Ask yourself first: "What went wrong?".  If you left your revision too late or were distracted on the day by illness or other events, it may be a good idea to take the exam again, if possible. If, on the other hand, you lacked motivation and are still unsure about the next stage of your education, retakes may not be the answer and it is advisable to think carefully about all the options.
